Shawn is a proud east London resident, and the sitting Ward 2 Councillor who’s called the Forest City home for over 20 years.

On October 22nd 2018 Shawn was elected as the London City Councillor for Ward 2. Capturing 64% of the vote, he handily defeated the previous council who had held the seat for 24 yrs.

Before his election Shawn served as aide to Member of Parliament Irene Mathyssen in her east London constituency office. Because of that experience, he’s been an effective municipal advocate with the region’s federal MPs and provincial MPPs. He’s also been involved as a community volunteer with; the London Bandits Minor Hockey Association, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Argyle Community Association and prior to his election was also local television and radio personality.

Shawn isn’t a career politician. Before entering politics, he worked in restaurants and automotive plants for several years. And having been a single dad foster parent to two teenage boys, he understands the challenges and choices families have to make.

In his spare time Shawn enjoys hitting the gym at the local YMCA, gardening, biking, spending time with his sons and nephews, playing video games, reading comic books and science fiction.
