EAST LIONS COMMUNITY CENTRE OFFICIALLY OPENS!
After a long, long, long wait…Friday December 17th the East Lions Community Centre officially OPENS!!!
This is a long overdue but incredibly important edition to the Argyle neighbourhood and the wider east London community. Behind schedule before I was even elected and faced with practically every delay imaginable, it felt like this day was never going to come.
But, in the spirit of the season, it felt like being a kid on Christmas Eve to be able to share the opening day announcement this week. The *gift* of our new community is finally ready for us to open together, and will be enjoyed by many generations now and in the years to come.

The space is beautiful inside and I hope you will get to join me in sharing the many amenities soon.
The East Lions Community Centre features include:
- Two indoor pools, a full size lap pool and a leisure pool,
- A full size gymnasium (with the ability to divide into two smaller spaces) for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, badminton, floor hockey and more,
- A fitness studio for yoga, dance, and other activities,
- A community kitchen for food preparation classes,
- Two large meeting rooms (one that also hosts shuffleboard)
- An artisans space for classes in drawing, painting, weaving, sewing, and more
- Two reading lounges, complete with charging stations and free WiFi
And of course this is addition to the outdoor improvements which opened earlier this year.
